While comedy and pantomime are her specialist areas and first love, Dorothy has also performed in a wide variety of other disciplines at home and abroad.

Highlights to date have included playing as Colin in ‘Mother Goose’, Helena in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, Griffon in ‘Alice’ (the Leisy Musical version) and Yvette in ‘Allo, ‘Allo, as well as having the great privilege of originating several roles, such as Medusa in David McDowell Blue’s ‘For Love of Medusa’.

Favourite work in other disciplines has included working as a presenter/journalist with the Talking Newspapers Network, audiobook narrator (predominantly university textbooks and various audio novels), as well as various productions in TIE, street theatre, accessible Shakespeare, and many others.

Now working mostly in Ireland, NI and UK, she continues to work as a mainly freelance actor, voice artist and understudy, with a second professional focus as a theatre technician & film crewhand, she also has a sideline in promoting visibility and greater equality for performers who are disabled people.

In 2014, she was featured in the film portion of the multi-discipline ‘The Body Love Project‘, in a segment on life in the industry for performers who are disabled people.

In the spring of 2017 she was elected to the Executive of Equity Ireland and has served ever since.

She lives mainly in the Irish Midlands with her Actor/Magician spouse, her retired assistance dog, Emma (who was the World’s First Assistance Dog working full-time in theatre and film), and current on-duty assistance dog Pierre. They share their home with rescue cats and chickens (the latter all named after their favourite comediennes & known online as the #HeroesOfComedyFlock).

In her limited spare time when not performing or crewing, she runs a small handicrafts business, takes on private genealogy research work and serves on the Disability Working Group for FIA & works as an independent consultant on inclusion in the theatre and film industries.
